The Last Forever
Promises, a simple word, yet so hard to keep
They gather in your mind like a lump, useless heap
Ancient civilizations vanished
People, banished
Nothing really lasts forever
Not even when strong forces stick together
All except for one thing, nature
Which one be protected for the future
The gentle breeze blows the sea so calm
The sea rimmed with the soft white sand and the swaying palm
The balmy air blows through your hair
The air, drifting, drifting without a care
The bright green forest bustling with life
An environment that goes on without strife
The night sky as clear as glass
The stars gather up high in a magnificent mass
This earth revolves around beauty
Every sweet, fragile thing so fruity
All these things untouched by flaws
And should be preserved with great cause
Something that should not be destroyed
Doing such, humans should avoid
These things things shouldn’t be appreciated whenever
But should be kept in your mind, for they are of course the last forever.

I was inspired to write this poem after watching a documentary on how everyday 100 elephants are killed in Africa for the ivory in their tusks. This got me to thinking about how we, as human beings, should be more considerate about our surroundings, and try to preserve it to our best ability.
