The Daddy Crack

August 13, 2015
By Anonymous

A fingernail thin line traveling from

The left peak of my heart around to the

Tiny point at its end

A hairline thin crack ripped across the surface

And each day threatens to extend

A line that creates tension all around the

Hemisphere

If you slip a digit in it, blood your hand is

Sure to wear

It's the blood of a daughter, tied with

Twining ropes to slaughter

It's the blood a father spilt

More with every blow he dealt

Perfect precision, he traced the thin point of a

Blade around the curving heart of the child he

Made

A crack

Stretching and seamless, filling with this pain

Signed and sealed with my Daddy's name

Wow, this was really powerful. Again, you created some strong images in my head. I absolutely loved that last line. I was a little bothered by some of the places you seemed to start a new line in the middle of a sentence, and it wasn't a natural break in the sentence (like a comma or something). I don't pretend to know anything about meter, but it seemed a little jarring to me. Other than that it was really strong, especially the second half.
