I am From
I am from farmland,
nothing but space and emptiness.
I am from the deck at my old house,
the one on hole 18 at the golf course.
I am the long nights with nothing but silence,
not knowing of being alone.
I am from Kalley and Allie,
my best friends until the end.
I am from singing sad songs,
a broken record playing over and over.
I am from a wallflower.
Unnoticed by the people I want to care.
I am from jam sessions alone in my car,
singing like there’s no tomorrow.
I am from running away from my problems
because facing them takes the time of day
when I just want to be out and astray.
I am from a happy childhood,
but lost all happiness on one day.
I am from a girl,
a girl nobody could see.
I am from making my way out,
never wanting to stop and take a plea.
I am from strength,
even on my weakest day.
I am from me,
something nobody else can be.
