The steady swishing sound of the boats gliding along the aquamarine water echoes throughout what is home to most sea critters. Waves of all sizes rush to the shore as if they were competing in a race. Abruptly, the tides die down and take their original starting place. Sand castles are destroyed, but the imaginations of children rebuild them. The ocean imitates the sky's color, creating a mirror image. People are splashing the salty water back and forth in a fight for victory. The Ocean.
The gentle crisp breeze floats across the widespread of people scattered on the grainy like surface. Acres and acres of desert lie ahead. Multicolored shields form a blanket, protecting what is underneath from the immense illuminating ball of heat. Elder's tiptoe over the sizzling substance... rushing... to reach the boiling cauldron of water and life. Youths are sitting and babies are fidgeting, oblivious to their surroundings. The Sand.
Specs of crumbs are thrown in various directions. Flying feathery creatures arrive in swarms analyzing the food in front of them. Soon people arrive. It is a stare down between birds and visitors. The question is who will leave first? In the blink of an eye, the birds flee into thin air, as quick as the "leftovers" were eaten. The Seagulls.
People come and go, but the ocean's currents continuously flow. Children roam around carefree, relishing the outdoors and its adventures. Time evolves, passing through history. Creativity is released and expressed through sculptures of sand. Shells are strategically collected. The Moments.
As dusk arrives the glowing sphere above dives into the pool of saltly liquid. An overlay of darkness appears. The colorful maze of objects is packed away. Families reflect back at the memories they made. The Beach.

The painting named, "Gloucester Beach" by Edward Hopper inspired me to write this poem.
