When It Hits You
You are allowed to let your fingers tremble
at the mention of his name
Sing songs that make you cry
and tell your friends that he's to blame
stay up all night sobbing
trying to sow back all your seams
Scared to fall asleep
'cause you might see him in your dreams
Laugh at stupid jokes
to cover up the bruising hurt
Bite your tongue when asked of him
and respond with but a word
Play his favorite song
till it gets stuck inside your head
tremble at his name stay up all night
until you forget
You are allowed to leave your pillows stained
with tears that you have cried
Sit back and let your heart tear
at the pictures that you find
Stay inside for days
the world just looks so dim
Nothing feels the same
if its not done with him
You can stare up at the ceiling
looking for a reason to live
Sit in bed all day
to get away from hopelessness
Break down when it hits you
that he's not coming back
Fall asleep in his T-shirt
to feel the comfort that you lack
You can break yourself because
you thought it was true love
But please dont get so sad
where you feel like giving up

It's okay to grieve, but it's not okay to let it overcome you.
