School Supplies
The trip that parents always dread
As they head into the store.
Never stopping, always rushing
Shopping for some more
School supplies.
The children are all excited
Bouncing off the walls.
Always looking, touching, asking
Running down the halls
for school supplies.
Parents have the list in hand
Saying yes to their child, and no.
Pencils – check, folders –check
How much more is there to go?
Ugh, school supplies.
The carts are full at long, long last
The aisles are a mess.
When parents see the checkout line
They scream S.O.S.
Why? school supplies
2 hours later they’re finally done
Eagerly heading out the door
12 more months; 365 days
Until they're shopping for some more
School supplies.

We all love shopping for school supplies, but our parents never seem to enjoy it quite as much.
