Nothing there, Nothing here
My country is being afflicted of a bloody holocaust,
Once a land of pulchritude, is now embedded beneath its graves.
I've cruised through waves, and swept across skies.
I've battled the mountains, and kissed her goodbye.
I finally found you, like the hero of my dreams,
I felt like an angel rocketing into sky's limits.
I saw hope in the grass, and felt assured of the sunshine.
I just knew this was the best choice, I knew it was it was the only choice.
But it wasn't soon that I realized, I was colorblind.
That under the green, lies the rotten hearts of its people.
That behind the yellow, shimmers the cruelty of its society.
That beneath its soft fluffy blanket, rests the spirit of my own country.
What is it, that we have done wrong?
She was put in a detainment center with her mom, when all she wanted was safety and protection.
He was sold to people at the borders, to pay for his stay in Malaysia.
Some had to flee to charities in order to get some food, and warmth for the winter.
We even tried standing up for our rights, but we were deported back to a land of solitude.
What is it, that I have done wrong?
I've trusted you, but you've betrayed me.
Now there's nothing left...
Nothing there, Nothing here.

A poem inspired by guest speakers of Amnesty International, and a novel written by Deborah Ellis called “Children of War”.
This poem is dedicated to refugees all across the world.I want people to understand that eventhough refugees move to developed countries in search of a better life, we don't have much to offer. They are suffering everyday, and it doesn't matter whether they are at home or in another country they are being mistreated. People must understand the harsh reality. In life, we are always blindfolded to the truth... be inquistive, take on a new perspective and you'll be surprised on what you will discover!
