There was a little girl I saw once
walking on the sidewalk
in her purple dress and purple shoes.
Her hair flowing with big curls
as she chased the little ball across the street
until she transformed into a purple balloon.

I was in the car when I noticed the balloon.
It was something I only witnessed once.
I get out the car and searched around the street.
She wasn't there, then I checked the sidewalk
the body wasn't there. Her big curls
were gone, all that was left were her purple shoes.

I pick up her purple shoes
they were as light as a floating balloon.
Everything spiraled quickly like her curls.
I only saw the girl once
playing on the sidewalk
and then running across street.

Standing in the middle of the street.
Holding her purple shoes
as people from the sidewalk
stared up at the floating balloon
I will never forget her face. Once
in a lifetime memory of her big curls.

Up in the sky, her curls
were floating as people on the street
Watch her soul leave at once
Off this earth as I kept her purple shoes
in memory. The purple balloon
floated happily off the sidewalk.

I watch her on the sidewalk
her big bouncing curls
Soft like a balloon
leave this world. The street
Where she left her purple shoes
For me to keep and to remember once more.

The purple balloon on the sidewalk
That I remember once with big curls
On this street, her name was Stephanie with the purple shoes.
