What is that?
What is that, that lurks in the most unforeseen moment,
and dampens your heart to make it a marsh made of lethargy?
stalking your every move, it awaits for you to make a mistake you would lament.
Wasting your attempts towards beauty, draining your energy.
What is that, that can weigh you down like an anchor,
and can leave you as empty as a hollowed vessel?
It is a fire that tears you down and makes you burn with anger.
Longing affection and acceptance, but facing a constant battle.
What is that, that follows you around like your own shadow,
and continuously reminds you of your inferiority?
That lurker, that anchor, that shadow...
Its name is insecurity.
And there it waits each day,
For you to become its prey.
