Butterfly...

Soft wings flapping freely

Why does she go back all so keenly
Never not once realizing the thorns will sting
For onto the thorn bush she will cling

Dear lovely butterfly keep believing
You are more than what people are seeing
A little rain will clean those wings
And wash away those acing stings

Oh but the thorn bush entices you so
Fragile you flutter and little you grow
If only you knew what holds you back
Not the wind nor the rain but that pesky thorn attack

Everyone thinks, no one knows
Why a firefly never dims but always glows
Long ago you were a firefly too
Glowing and buzzing about like you knew

Now dear butterfly you only wait
For the next luring of the thorn bush bait
Why not fly away to a flower paradise
Where thorn bushes are not aloud to entice

For you are stronger than most people believe
By your own soft wings you are deceived
If they can flutter through wind and rain
Why would they give up because of unnecessary pain

Butterfly butterfly I leave you with this
So in the future you won’t miss
The pre-chosen flower paradise granted to you
Leave the thorn bush, that’s what you must do
