The Storm
You hear the rain. You hear the thunder.
You hear the blowing wind.
You see the lightning in the sky.
You see trees break and bend.
You know a storm is on its way.
You see it coming now.
You know that you're in danger.
You hear a crack and pow.
You lock your door. You close your blinds.
You hide inside your room.
It's closer now. It's getting loud.
You think you've met your doom.
It shakes the house and rattles the windows.
It bangs at your front door.
It begs for you to let it in
So it can start a war.
You beg for it to go away.
Instead, it just stays there.
You scream and shout, but it doesn't work.
It really isn't fair.
And just as soon as it had come,
It quickly goes away.
You get up and go outside
To find a cloudy day.
As soon as you look up,
a raindrop hits your nose.
You quickly run right back inside
And watch as the rain flows.
Soon, the thunder comes again,
And worry fills your soul.
The lightning comes and makes you jump
And scares you almost whole.
The storm continues on and on,
And your fears, they start to rise.
You close your eyes and pray to God
Hoping he hears your cries.
You pray to God to calm your fears
And ask him to stop the storm.
Soon, the storm is letting up
And is starting to transform.
It turns into a sunny day
And chases away your fears.
You get on your knees and you thank God
As the storm disappears.
You open your eyes and look around
To find you're in your bed.
It was all just a nightmare that felt so real
And still lingers in your head.
You now know the reason behind your dream
And what it really meant.
Everything can be gone in the blink of an eye,
And your future could be bent.

I was inspired to write this piece because I wanted people to know that everything could be taken away in the blink of an eye. Cherish the special moments in life. Do not let your inner storm control your actions, because in the end, you will be judged. You won't be judged by people, but you will be judged by God. Don't take things for granted.
