Summer Memories
Long nights and late mornings,
Road trips that last forever, yet that
I wish would never end.
Laying on the garage roof
staring at the stars.
Going to the beach and pretending to tan
with my friends just so I can wear
my cool new sunglasses.
Strolling down Grand Avenue with
my grandpa, cotton candy ice cream
in one hand, ten thousand shopping
bags in the other.
Having insane water gun wars with
my neighbors over the fence.
Sitting in the cheapest seats in
Target Field just so we can get
the best view of the skyline.
Waking up and hearing birds chirping
through my window, instead of nothing
… or a snowblower.
Walking through the Rose Gardens
by Lake Harriet, breathing in the smells
that bring back so many memories.
Summer memories.
My favorite summer memories.
And hopefully I’ll make much,
much more.
