Before the gun goes off
The crowd screaming
The sun is beaming
Your hearts thumps loud in your chest
Your legs are shaking
Your body's aching
You doubt yourself to no end
You dream of winning
But it's just the beginning
The finish can't even be seen
You think of the steep hills
Bad form is what kills
You must push from beginning to end
You stare down the start line
Everyone looks fine
You feel like you could die
You hug all your teammates
Some just have good fates
But we've all worked hard to no end
You breath in the fresh air
You must learn to dare
Just dig down deep and run
On your mark- get set,
Imagine you're a jet,
Flying through the course
And before you know,
It's time to go,
The gun echoes through the air
And you're off
