"Secrets on a Shelf"
From cover to cover what can I hold?
Tales and stories forever untold.
So open said covers and see for yourself,
All of the covers kept on a shelf.
I hear it repeatedly that I'm nothing but boring.
When my spine is unraveled, those humans keep snoring.
I feel unappreciated, mistreated, unused.
All I could tell, unscathed and abused.
But along comes a girl, her love for me true.
Says I lift up her spirits when she is so blue.
Finally my hope is forever restored.
Admiration for me is newly reborn,
For she has discovered all that I hold.
My tales and stories no longer untold.
She opened my covers and saw for herself,
All of the secrets kept on a shelf.
