Watching a Day
I sit here like a rock,
on a tall hill,
watching the present,
as I stay still.
Traffic flies by,
a constant blur.
Clouds block the light,
a sun's saboteur.
People walk past,
on their way to work,
they see me staring,
and think I'm a jerk.
As time ticks by,
I feel its beat,
wasting away,
in the searing heat.
Time is like an idea,
out of reach.
Yet it turns rock to sand,
on a distant beach.
It's constant unending,
worry free.
No one can stop it,
especially not me.
