The Ant Hill

A midget in a world run by giants wearing the pants.
They step all over me like I am an ant.
I want to be heard,
Does that sound so absurd?

Despite my miniscule size,
That hill is not so daunting.
It will not be my demise
No cricket, roach, or aardvark will come haunting.

Go around living crumb to crumb,
Sometimes only seen as dumb.
Dumb they say – how can that be
I store up food for seasons you see.

Pickles, pears, pieces of pies,
Pizza, pepperoni as big as an eye.
Life is a busy city that keeps passing me by
But better that than to be stepped on and quickly die.

Marching along I am a soldier in action.
My pack on my back ten times my weight.
Food for all winter is my satisfaction.
Even though I might lose I will not hesitate.

I serve a purpose
I am not such a curse.
I help arrive at yards
And now a part of this bard.
