It had to be done
She sits alone in her room
Staring blankly at the posters covering her walls
She can’t cry anymore
The only sound heard is the occasional loud intake of breath
Slowly getting up she makes her way to the desk in the
Right corner of her room
Taking the black and white picture of him off her desk
She starts to remember the day she took
The picture
It was a warm day at the park
He was sitting across from her at the picnic table watching the
Geese in the pond
As she snaps out of the trance the memory had put her in
She throws the picture in the small
Pink metal trash can
The picture just a memory now
All she could think about was the fun they had
When they were together
Remembering the time they went to the movies
And sat in the very front row
Throwing popcorn at the screen like children
He was the light of her life
He meant the world to her at the time
He was like sweet candy that quickly turned sour
He slowly fell off the pedestal she had put him on
Suddenly it all felt real to her
Remembering all the lies he had told her
The missed calls and the texts he never responded to
Finally hitting her like a ton of bricks
She knew she had to move on
Even if it was the hardest thing she had ever done
It had to be done
So as she put in her headphones
She turned to her picture wall and took his pictures down
She deleted the texts and all the pictures she had taken of him
As she deleted his number the feeling of relief
Washed over her like waves over the sand at the beach
After what felt like forever she
Pulled herself out of the hole she had
Fallen into
It had to be done
