Vixen

The stars shiver around my cold prison
My high black perch and the only reason
I sit up here, wings folded under my feathers
Is because I'm a fugitive of the fiery devil's tethers.
That red vixen. Strutting around at my claws
Flaunting her bright fur and ignoring the silent laws--
she released this blue bird and refused to shed a tear.
Now she's calling me from my haven and telling me to come near
And her sharp, yellowed fangs glisten with caustic comments.
Devastating lies and twisted presents
But I'm drawn by her eyes to a distance from which she can touch
And she reaches with her snout and pokes me just such
That I melt into a trickle of silver at her black socks.
And she smiles the smile that I so dearly love as I bleed though the rocks

Her smile is so bright that I would die if just to see it.
