NOT "GOODBYE" BUT "GOOD DAY"
Today, I stand before you,
To bid adieu.
This moment can't go amiss.
The winds through the trees do slowly swish.
Time has taken what we will sorely miss.
The sun throws out a bright ray,
As it brings forward a new day.
A day, that will make us all sad.
What we have now will become what we once had.
A thing so dear, how can you say goodbye?
How far is it that was once nearby.
The clouds streak the blue skies,
We can't get back what time denies.
Oh Almighty, I ask you a question today,
Why do you give us something that is to be taken away?
So simple is the word, and yet so hard to say,
Is the tearful one "Goodbye"...nay,
Let me wish you all a very good day.

I was to say something at the farewell function of our school. We were the highest class and we were leaving. I wrote this poem and recited it in front of the whole school. My late maternal grandfather used to say "Never say goodbye. Just say good day."
This gave me the inspiration to write this poem. I hope you like it.
