Come Back
The feeling in war begins to lack
Men kill without thought
It is time for daddy to come back
Just like a quarterback sack
Their bodies fallen and fought
The feeling in war beings to lack
Bullets take them down like a smack
In soldier’s arms they were caught
It is time for daddy to come back
Medals pinned on them like a tack
But it never shows how they fought
The feeling in war begins to lack
Month after month they began to pack
In years they never thought
It is time for daddy to come back
Their daughter’s smiles crack
He remembered that is why he fought
The feeling in war beings to lack
It is time for daddy to come back

What inspired me to write this poem, was the fact that I watched the movie, The Lucky One, which involves a man in the military.
