The cold Canadian weather has come and the first day of the new hunting season has begun.  Longtime friends, Daniel and Steve, plan to enjoy a weekend together out in the Canadian wilderness hunting with together.  They have taken this personal vacation with each other for the past three years and they have always enjoyed it greatly.  Only God knows what lies ahead for Daniel and Steve on their journey, and who knows what big game trophy they will come home with this year.
Daniel and Steve met long ago.  Back in high school they played on the varsity football team together and had good chemistry on the field so they also hung out off the field.  Both Daniel and Steve were interested in the same career which they wanted to pursue after high school so they both enlisted into the Army.  They attended basic training together in the state of Oklahoma.  They went through what felt like hell to them during their basic training.  They stuck together strong, like two magnets, and came out of basic with an even stronger and closer relationship.
During the time they served in the Army, it wasn’t always sunshine’s and rainbows.  Steve served a long eleven years in the Army retiring early to help his wife raise their three children.  Steve and his family didn’t have to worry financially due to the hard work of deployment for eleven straight years off and on.  During Steve’s eleven years off and on deployment to Iraq his wife stuck with him.  It was never an easy thing to do for the two of them but they loved each other dearly.  They always knew they were right for each other.  Now they have two sons and one daughter and are living happily together as a strong family.
Daniel on the other hand served in the Army for fifteen years straight.  He retired a few years back and is also alright financially but he has a bit of a drinking problem.  Daniel was also deployed in Iraq alongside Steve.  They worked together so well and remain great friends to this day.  Daniel never found a girl to settle down with so he has no wife nor children.  Daniel considers Steve’s family apart of his own family so for holidays, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, Daniel spends it with Steve and his family.
Two days before Steve and Daniel begin their hunting trip to Canada they both call each other to make sure they had all the necessities they’d need.  They had planned on meeting early the next morning to drive themselves to where they could camp out and hunt for the next couple days.  On the way up to Canada the drive was pretty chill and traffic didn’t hold them up at all.  Daniel and Steve arrive on some private land later that night and pitch their tents to call it a night.
Before bed Daniel and Steve talk about their plans for tomorrow.
“So Dan, I say we roll out locked and loaded tomorrow morning at sunrise.”
“That sounds like a plan to me Steve.  We can grab a snack on the go and head north.  We can use what tracks we find to hunt down our prey tomorrow.”
“Sounds good to me Dan.  Night Brother.”
“Night.”
Early the next morning they wake up and are on the trail by sunrise.  They picked some beef jerky to chew on while they were on the walk north.  They walked a few hours until they found there first set of what appears to be moose tracks.  Daniel and Steve agree to follow the tracks left behind to hunt down the wild moose.
After about forty five minutes of tracking the wild moose the time and energy has paid off.  The moose is in sight about one hundred yards ahead standing still in the silent cold forest.  Daniel points at Steve to take the shot.  Steve aims his rifle and takes a deep breathe.  His finger is starting to close in on the trigger when suddenly a wild bear roars in an angry matter.
“Steve don’t move!” Whispers Daniel.
They stand silent about ten yards away from the bear.  Then suddenly before Steve and Daniel could think of a way out of their dangerous situation the bear begins to charge.  Instantly Steve takes off running while Daniel loads his rifle.  Before they bear reaches Steve, Daniel has already fired a shot into the bear’s side causing him to stumble.  It takes four more shots to take the bears life away.
When the area is silent and Steve and Daniel make sure the area is clear they observe the bear.  They decide to bring it back home to stuff for a scary moment they shared together.  The stuffed bear would always remind them of their friendship together and how they are both constantly on the lookout for each other.
