The shapes around her start to soar
As she falls into a deep trance.
All her troubles and fears are no more
Whenever she starts to dance.

So many possibilities open up.
She can be whoever she wants.
A young child or a grownup,
A heavenly being or a ghost that haunts.

Soon enough, she starts to tire.
Her whole body starts to ache.
Her legs feel like they're on fire.
And it's a feeling she just can't shake.

But no matter what, she pushes on
And is able to hold out much longer.
Determination and confidence she can now don.
It's true, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

The author's comments:

I've always loved dancing, so I decided to write a poem about it just to get my creative juices flowing before dance practice.
