That Teenage Girl
I was the teenage girl who was laughed at.
I was the teenage girl who was left with no friends.
The one that was judged for past mistakes,
While crying in the school bathroom.
I was the teenage girl who had to cover cuts.
I was the teenage girl who just wanted to give up,
Thinking that nobody cared and nothing would get better.
Lonely and frightened, with nobody to turn to.
I was the teenage girl who decided it was the end.
I was the teenage girl who took that bottle of pain killers,
Trying to leave this judgmental world,
Trying to be free from those that were mean.
I am the teenage girl who lived through overdose.
I am the teenage girl who learned to ignore the cruel people.
The girl that stopped being afraid to go to school,
And face those that hated me and made me cry.
I am the teenage girl who’s proud of who I am.
I am the teenage girl with scars on my body.
The teenager with a story marked on her arms,
But also the teenager who isn’t afraid to show it.
