Distance
My cheeks flush red as your grey eyes flicker
Like the way that a lightning storm can be.
Your skin against mine makes my heart sicker.
The way that your laugh will interrupt me,
how your worn hands slowly slide into mine.
Is this how love should feel, when you’re with me?
The stars are like you, in the way they shine.
You’re in my dreams, more often than you’re not,
Do you know how much you consume my mind?
I craved to be free, then I was caught.
Being independent had suited you,
All I had done was tied myself in knots.
You have this mind that no one can break through,
Always making sure your wall was built tall.
You said I was weak, but I knew that too.
I walked this thin line, but now I must crawl.
You’ve broken me, now I’m nothing at all.
