Officer Down
He wakes this morning like he did the day before
Puts on his uniform and pins on the badge
Kisses his wife and kids goodbye as he walks out the door
He heads to the department ready for briefing
Gets in his patrol car ready to help
Just waiting for someone to yelp
As he is waiting in an alley, he sees a car speed by
With sirens wailing and lights flashing he goes to find out why
Walks up to the window and talks to the driver
Only to see him pull out his revolver
3 shots is all it took to free the crook
With the officer laying on the floor
He calls out “Officer Down!” and will be heard from no more
As he lays there drowning in his own blood
Life as he knows it flashes before his eyes
That evening she gets the dreaded call
That he will no longer walk through that door
His lips will never touch hers once more
To save the lives of others he had to fall
