My daddy

He acted like a monkey in the trees,
Enjoyed going to work every day to cut down trees,
Owning your own tree service business,
Until it was all taken away.

Log rolled on your back off your truck,
Police siren and lights everywhere,
Tears rushing down my face,
What would I do without you?

Holding on to my mom praying you’d be okay,
To not see your smile,
To not be able to touch you ever again would kill me inside,
What would I do without you?

Air lifted to the hospital,
Paralyzed from the waist down,
Lucky enough to even be living,
What would I do without you?

My everything,
My hero,
My daddy,
What would I do without you?

My dad's accident inspired me to write this poem.
