There are no clean breaks
Amputees still have phantom limbs
No matter how sharp the knife
You can never cut out the past
There will always be strings tying you
To where you’ve been before
We are all shaped by our past
You can’t go back
Every second you spend missing
What was before
Is a second you miss
What is now
Slow change is painful
Sometimes you don’t notice
Until that last revelation
If you increase the water by a few degrees
Pretty soon you’re boiling
Fast change is an initial shock
And then you adapt
Change is a process
It’s never painless
Eventually you have to
let
go…
