Cannonball run
the Nemesis
and Root ramp run.
Just a few names
of trails my bike
easily tames.
Bring a helmet for your head;
the trails are tricky
at old Craighead.
Mountain bikes are needed,
the dress should be casual,
no pants that are pleated.
It’s fun on the trails,
you see forest animals
wagging their tails.
They run away in a dash
keeping my eyes off them
on the road not to crash.
I should be focused
no need to fall,
I don’t want to seem novice.
The trails can be dry,
muddy, rough, and snowy,
wet is the best, I can’t lie.
To run through with a splash
and hit a rut in the rain
that would cause serious pain.
You must be chill,
and resist the will
to adjust your hands
because it could cause a spill.
The trees surround you
all different kinds,
maple, oak, and pine.
The road varies in type,
gravel, mud, dirt, and grass
all for my bike.
The people I pass by
must think I’m in shape,
but really I’m doing this
so I can lose weight.
It’s a great exercise,
though dangerous,
people rarely die.
The gear is expensive,
but helps on the defensive.
The bike and trails built for off road
there’s nothing better for a
dedication by ode.
