Galaxies

November 20, 2014

Salty water drips

down my cheeks.

Tears stain my face.

Rosy, puffy, swollen.

I gasp for comfort.

As I inhale, galaxies

explode in my chest.
Burning, ripping, and shredding.

Pain escapes from my lips,

formed as a desperate sob

followed by

a haunting silence.

The galaxies have burned out.

Nothing is left

as all of the air is expelled

from my aching lungs.

All that remains is

a void so cold and empty,

I am forced to breathe again

and burn.
