"My Mothers Oak Tree"
My mother the gardener planted an oak; she said this oak is strong like her ever holding promise to stay with me. But nature. Not to be outdone, proved her horribly wrong when one simple day the oak broke. Nature in all its cruel finality ignored me stubbornly as I pleaded and cried for my mothers pretty promise of an oak tree.

This is part of a set of three poems that I did for a research project in school. My topic of research (main idea of poems) was poems to teach about how abandonment affects children and the solutions. I am so proud of them all. I got a 100 on that project by the way. It was one of my teachers who suggested I submit them.
