Denial

At 20 years, 3 men foregone, and without company
I accepted affection where I stood between;
I demanded nature not decide for me;
But never intended life behind a smoke screen.
For awe I asked without means of reciprocation,
And failed in intimacy with close friends;
I felt vacancy between us, and no restitution
Can disappear those pusillanimous trends.
I decayed those I loved with muddled thought,
And proceeded in order to find simplicity;
I bruised more bones untying my Gordian Knot,
And found all previous actions sick with duplicity.
The world was specific about my sin,
But really all I craved was that soft, soft, skin.
