Stripped Lies
In a furnished cellar not like my own, our secrets hidden below ground
Stuttered laughter and stolen glances we were going to give back anyways
He is a comet crashing into planet ready to accept its fate. Sudden movements slide us down the side of a blade.
Breath, hot and prepared speaks to the floor
“I, um, I can’t believe you and I”
“I know”
The breath stopped, as if cut off, sealed shut.
A squirrel stops by the half sunk window,
His eyes were not on mine
Wandering, a lost child
On his own path.
