Where I'm From
I am from Maine
from a house a mile into the dense forest
from the shimmering waters of Kezar Lake
and from the painted mailbox across the street
I am from swiss german and english
from traveling from the United States to Switzerland
I am from music from different corners of the Earth
and from impressionism to modern art
I am from warm zopf straight out of the oven
from my dad stealing my chocolate mousse
I am from scrumptious thai food for Thanksgiving
from grandmas unappetizing green jello pie
I am from the array of hair ties, a rainbow of color
from my knitting, urging to be completed
I am from shoeboxes filled with glorious memories
from journals overflowing with words
I am from what goes around, comes around
from if you snooze, you loose!
I am from if you don't like it, it's the same price
from you get what you get and you don't get upset
I am from Henry, Sal, and Sisto as lovable as teddy bears
from Blackie, who goes splish, splash, bubble
I am from my bouncy, carefree and loving sister
from my loyal and warmhearted parents
I am from my Irish grandparents, both happy as clams
from my Swiss grandparents, whose talents are many
And last of all
I am from living life to its fullest
