I Come From

I come from a home that had its times but we made the most out of it
I come from where the ghetto was my reality
I come from where the amount of drugs you sold determined your salary
So much love filled the house but jealousy was
Alive
Mommy was making more
Daddy was just getting by
I come from a place where drugs were dealt everyday
Even the man I looked up to make sure e got paid
I come from blood streaming down my mother’s lips then cops being
called
Coming in with guns on their hips
I come from where school meant the most
No coming with less than a C
I come from a place where my sister was striving and I..
Well I was just being
Me
I come from a place where my mom would kill to see us live
All the money in the world couldn’t compare to her kids
I come from being a daddy’s girl to
Maybe not
When a whole is screaming at the one you love the
Most
Your thoughts change
They become infected with hateful words
From people you look up to
Then you think maybe I’m not right
It wasn’t just a fight
I come from a dysfunctional family but it works just for us
The good outweighs the bad
No, were not always sad
The past is the past
And we always are looking toward the future
My story is still being written
This is only just a chapter
Leaving the past behind
And looking forward to what’s
Coming after
