The Time Traveller
No one on Earth could have foreseen;
It would create a time machine.
It went through time in search of truth
Found the universe in its youth
The Big Bang, a marvelous scene,
No one on Earth could have foreseen;
Soon came life, and the planet full
Humans arrived by the bagsful
All humankind built and drilled
But still they were not fulfilled.
No one on Earth could have foreseen;
But very soon would end; their routine
The end of humanity, it was queer.
Its upper lip rising into a sneer
Smug, it went back in its machine
No one on Earth could have foreseen.
