The Prison

September 17, 2014
By Anonymous

Locked in an empty room,
Staring into space.
Swirling mists
Wrap around my face.

The deafening drumming
Drowns out all other sound.
I sit in thoughtful silence,
The only solace I have found.

I try to pull myself away,
From this world of darkness.
But it is useless
To show any defiance.

Sometimes I hold on
Hoping for the light.
Everything still gets extinguished in the end
And all remains blight.

I am trapped in my own cell,
Stuck in an eternal hell.
Free me from my prison,
My mind is too tortured to reason.
Help cut loose my chains of fear,
And let everything be clear.
