Nevermore
Satan’s beast dost dwell in my mind
Blocking out light, ceasing to shine
The monster is sick, finding pride in pain,
It can’t be stopped, I’ve tried in vain.
Sensing weakness, it torments me, its prey,
No reprieve, in night nor day.
No physical harm, my body in tact
It’s my mind that the creature seeks to attack.
Cerebral it is, wounding deep to the soul,
All the while it whispers, seizing control.
The crass creature of night, preached a dastardly score,
Quoting the raven, it shouts “nevermore”!
The struggle was over, the lock had broken,
to all evil thoughts my sick mind had been opened.

I suffer from severe insomnia and this poem came to me one night I couldn't sleep. It sent shivers through my soul when I reread it aloud
