If It Were You
How can you stand to kiss your mother with that mouth?
How do you allow such nasty things to come out?
All you do is belittle one another,
Tell me, how would you feel if that were your mother?
You do nothing more than find time to criticize,
But you fail to see that in the eyes of the beholder is where beauty lies.
Every day I hear, “She’s ugly”, “she’s a w***e”, “she’s a sl*t.”
I really wish you all would grow up.
Think about some of the disgusting things that you say.
Would you be happy if someone spoke to your daughter that way?
“Oh it’s okay if we get a laugh or two”
But how would you feel if the joke’s on you?
It is known that the sharpest weapon is the tongue,
Despite not being able to see the battle scars when you’re done.
“I was only kidding” – Why say something you don’t mean?
Why would you go out your way to crush someone’s self esteem?
The most painful wounds are the ones that aren’t seen,
But they still haunt, like a terrible dream.
Maybe eventually the pain will go away,
What if it doesn’t? What if it’s here to stay?
I’m not trying to tell anyone what to do,
I’m just asking, how would you feel if it were you?
