what fun is there in making sense?

The thunder roared with a blinding light,
The storm was raging through the night.
The wind was howling through the trees,
The rain was pelting the savage seas.
The land was hidden in a misty haze,
The lightning set the sky
ablaze.
The wild waves beat upon the
shore,
The earth rumbled like drums of war.
The mountains stood and held their ground,
The fire crackled and danced all around.
The lakes and rivers rose to defend,
The animals hoped for the war to end.
The earth was scarred by the torrid
sun,
In the end, none of the forces won.
For the river continues to cut the land,
The waves still crash upon the sand.
The mountains rise, upright and proud,
The shadows lurk to find things to shroud.
The trees submit to the powerful gale,
the rivers rush and stir without fail.
The forces still fight, as you can see,
But without them there would be no me.

I was sitting around one day wondering what it would be like if earth's forces ever had an epic war. This is what I came up with.
