The shadow.

Sink me in a river,
Drown me in my tears,
And help me forget,
The damage of my fears;
The shadow in the distance,
Has turned the colors of flowers,
Into a field of ashes;
That shadow in the distance,
The one that lurks at night,
Has kept my mind captive,
And has it locked in tight.
