I don't know where I'm going, but I know I'm going somewhere beautiful.

I fell off the cliff, long ago.
I never climbed up, with fear of exposure.
But today, I can tell myself no.
I was once stuck in the small enclosure.
You had trapped me for days.
Perhaps years.
I looked for many escape ways,
but every single day just brought more tears.
I was trapped under your strong grip,
but when the fence finally slipped,
you went to the extremes of a guilt trip.
I didn't let you, and my heart was ripped.
You grabbed it with your bare hands,
ripped out every bit of glee.
The years of all the plans,
buckled, but let me free.
My heart continued to ache,
and I died every day.
But slowly, my mind begins to wake.
You see, at one point, everything was grey.
But I let the light in,
and the walls slowly collapsed.
Now, nothing is how it has been.
They tell me that I have passed.
The days, and years of crying,
have brought me to a certain place.
Now I am starting flying.
I have finally won the race.
Mom, I beat you in your own game.
I have won against all odds.
I refuse to take the blame,
And I am smiling at the Gods.
I have found the one I love,
and I no longer cry myself to sleep.
I have risen above,
and you have fallen deep.

This is a poem that I wrote while overcomimg some severe issues with my mother. I hope that people who are being emotionally, physically, or sexually abused by a parent are able to connect with this poem, and see that things do get better.

Trust your heart if the seas catch fire. Live by love though the stars walk backward. -EE Cummings

This is such a beautiful song of triumph. It is well worded and has an air of superiority. Way to overcome!
