Once you've loved Africa
Sometimes, I’ll lie awake at night
Thinking of clear, starry skies
Displaying God’s splendor and might
A lion’s full, dark, staring eyes
Oh, dreaming of Africa
That mysterious, glorious land
Oh, the land that calls my name
I could never expect you to understand
That your life could never be the same
Once you’ve loved Africa
Those memories go with me everywhere
When I’m watching people eat
There’s abundance here, it just isn’t fair
To remember starving faces on the street
In that land called Africa
Oh no, you’ll never be the same
That tugging on your heart will never leave
This strange continent, the wild; the untamed
When far away from it, your soul will grieve
Once you’ve loved Africa
