I tell you all this,
Because I want you to remember.
My favorite food, my birthday,
What I did last December.

I tell you all this,
Because one day I'll forget.
What did I eat for breakfast?
Have I done this yet?

I tell you all this,
Because in memories, I'll always be with you.
It'll be like I never left.
And by remembering, I know you'll make it through.

The author's comments:
We all forget things, some of us more than others. Some of us will even get Alzheimer's when we get older. This poem was written with that in mind, as if I can somehow preserve my memories.
