It's all coming to a damned halt, including you and I.

Never before did I think you were to be the one to drive the stake,
Even in our darkest hours,
Even when the blood poured out from the gaping hole in my chest,
Did I believe you were capable of such malice.

You would never do this, not to me, not to us.
Over the white picket fence, the placid sun sinks behind the horizon.
Ugly could not begin describe this purely wretched stink of betrayal.

Please, I gasp, still reaching out for one last kiss.
Listen to me.
Even though the blood stains your lips and blurs your eyes,
All that you are is still in there.
So even as your crimson footsteps lead you away from your crime, don’t
Ever let the whisper of my love leave your muddled heart.

Don’t think for a moment that I shall fade.
Our time has engraved a permanent mark on the stars.
Never forget the heavy weight of my hand in yours.
Time is but an illusion, but I’m glad I could play pretend with you.

Ghosts surround me now, ripping at my flesh and tearing into my open chest, but still,
Only the warmth of your touch has the hold on my heart.

The author's comments:
This is actually an acrostic poem, where every capital letter read downwards spells out another message, in this case 'I need you, please don't go.' Also, the inspiration from this has come from my own personal experiences and also is heavily influenced by the lyrics of one of my favorite artists, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria.
