A flurry of calls
Shouts I escape from
Running away
from e’eryday doldrums

Wings aloft
turning and banking
swooping down
surrounding and flanking

Chirps and chitters
Song and sound
take off to the sky
fly up in the clouds

They perch and stare
prune their down feathers
upright, dignified
themselves having no tethers

The sight of rain
Smell of petrichor
Head back home
to look for more
