Thursday, October 12th, 2012. 8:30 pm:
“Once, there was a little girl named Abby. She went camping with her friends just like all of us are camping right now. One night they decided to have a campfire and sing songs; Abby had to use the restroom, but there were no bathrooms. So, they told her to go into the woods. Being naïve like she always was she went out into the woods alone, with no light. She walked around a little until her eyes adjusted, then she stopped at a bush.” “Then what happened!” a little girl suddenly interrupted my friend Amy, “Listen, I’m still telling the story.” She said quickly, “Anyway, then after she did her business, she started walking back when she noticed a wide, old pond. So, she walked to it and drank the water. The water was sour and she couldn’t breathe! She was panicking. What could she do? But then, out of nowhere, her neck started to whip her head wildly back and forth. And that’s when they lost Abby to the witch that had once roamed the land they now camped on.” My friend Amy paused to glance behind her and into the woods. To be honest I think she was spooking herself. “Continuing, Abby came back later that night, wanting the soul of one of her friends. So, she took her friend Lucy with her, to the pond, to meet the evil witch, she had within her. And they never saw those two little girls again.” “That’s fake!” one of the snooty girls shouted. “Time for bed girls,” the chaperone ordered, “And make sure to put out the fire!”
9:00 pm: “Amy, was that a true story?” I asked my friend, desperately wanting it to be another one of her fictions. “What, of course. Well, kind of. You see, I read a book from my grandma’s library and it had that story in it.” “What!” “But don’t worry it’s talking about the woods in her backyard.” Amy said calmly, “Okay, you better be right about this one.”
Friday October 13th, 2012. 5:00 am: As I am waking up, I notice Amy is already dressed. Her long, red-brown hair is combed down, with a bow clipped onto her left side. She’s wearing her favorite hot pink and black top; it is covered in ruffles. Also, she was wearing black leggings and her favorite Converse, neon pink and black. As I begin to dress myself I put on my favorite polka dot leggings, classic hot pink and black romper, with my all black and white xx-hi converse. Lastly, I pull on my black sequined hat and then brush through my tangled hair. “Well, you look fancy. Are you going out to meet somebody?” Amy asked suspiciously. “No, just hanging with you.” “Is that it?” “Well today is Friday the 13th, and I just want to look fabulous when I die.” I said smiling. “Talk about paranoid. I’m kidding, nothing is going to happen. I promise.” “You’re not Freddy Krueger, are you? Or, have you been possessed by a witch?” I asked, sounding full of mystery. “No, my name is Amy and I hope not.” “We are way too young to die! We’re only twelve!” “Stop that crazy racket and get yourselves out here!” the chaperone shouted.
6:00 am: “This breakfast is gross. I want to go home.” One of the little girls whispered to me. “Sorry, I want to go home too, but we are already here and there is nothing we can do about it.” I responded to her question. We are currently at a fall camp for girls, who need to be friendly or something like that. Today is the last day anyway, so, it should be quick and simple. After these last two hours I am going to Amy’s grandma’s house, which freaks me out now. I just hope that story is fake, phony, and can never come true.
8:00 am: “All aboard on the bus, if you want to go home!” shouted the bus driver. We hopped onto the, surprisingly, empty bus and sat down immediately. We were finally going home. “Ugh, I’m hungry.” I told Amy, hoping she had a snack. “Oh, I have granola bars, apples, and some fruit snacks.” “O.M.G. Can I have a granola bar?” I asked quickly. “Sure!” Amy handed one to me but I soon realized, as I was unwrapping it, it was soft and melted. So, I compromised and used my hands. It was a mess, but we were almost at Amy’s grandma’s house anyway. I recognized the path of tall trees I usually see when we visit her house.
9:00 am: We got to the house after about five minutes and we have been playing on Amy’s computer. “I can’t believe we already have to go back to school on Monday.” Amy protested against the idea, “Of course, it was only a week’s worth of camping. Besides, we still have tonight, the Halloween dance. And what would be more fun than taking each other as dates?” I questioned with a huge grin on my face. “Well, we could’ve gotten boys as our dates. I mean, most of the seventh grade boys do like us.” “Yeah right, the only ones that like us are Andrew and Eric and they are weird.” I responded. “Well, that’s true. But they’re pretty popular. And …” I interrupted her, “I don’t care about popularity, they have to be cuter and not weird at all. May I remind you that they sniff our hair!” “Oh yeah!” ‘EWWWWW!’ we both screeched. We both decided to lie on her bed and talk.
12:00 pm: “Lunch time girls!” Amy’s grandma called us from down stairs. “Okay, we’re coming.” Amy responded. As we began to walk down the steps, I stared out into the woods through the huge window along her stairs. I began to think about the story she told, but my thought was interrupted by a faint wail. “Help me!” Amy’s grandma screeched. We quickly ran down and realized somebody else was in the room helping her, a boy. “Don’t worry, I’ve got her.” He told us what had happened and he just kept on looking through every window. “Are you sure you’re okay, you seem a bit shaken.” Amy questioned him, “Oh, I’m fine. It’s your grandmother I am worried about.” “Um, she’ll be fine. She has fallen plenty of times and she’s pretty rough, herself.” I explained to him while Amy was shyly laughing. “Ha! Are you positive she’ll be alright?” he continued the long and awkward conversation. “I’m positive. What’s your name anyway?” I asked him, “My name is Aaron Martin. But please just call me A.” “Okay, A. What school do you go to and how did you get in this house?” Amy asked with a smirk on her face, “Oh, I go to Salamander George E. Washington Middle School. And I kind of… broke in when I heard her fall. I came from a camp and I was walking from the bus. It just so happened, that when I was passing your house I heard her.” “You must have super hearing or something because we were barely able to hear her!” Amy exclaimed, “Actually, I do. You see, a witch put a curse on me when I was younger and she made sure I was able to hear every noise there ever is.” “Wow!” Amy said sarcastically, “Uh, Amy, don’t be so mean, I think that’s awesome; except for when you have to sleep, right?” “Oh, that’s not a problem anymore. I use super-sonic, earplugs!” “A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Does anybody else know?” I asked sadly. “No only my parents.” “And Jamie, please do not say ‘Awesome!’ again.” Amy told me (my name is Jamie).

3:00 pm: Later that night, A wanted to show us a cabin he found out in the woods. “Come on follow me!” A, shouted over the loud wind. We both followed slowly and scared. “We can’t go too far, the dance starts at 6:00. And we can’t be late, we have a schedule.” I explained. After about 5 minutes, we finally make it to the cabin he told us about. “Ooh, look what I found! A book, I think it’s in Latin or something. Maybe a witch dropped it on her way to the cabin.” Amy said, “I know you’re trying to freak me out, it’s not working!” I said while laughing. “I’m serious, I know that there are witches. My great aunt Beatrice was a witch. But, of course they had to execute her.” “Great story, let’s go inside now.” A, told us. We soon go inside and realize that we shouldn’t have come. I slowly began to make my way around the small single bedroom cabin. The walls were made of wood, just like the floor and there was a fireplace. There was absolutely nothing else in the cabin, except for something in a corner. It seemed like the creature was staring right at me. “Get out… save your own souls.” The odd creature suddenly whispered to us, but we just ignored what it said. “I think we should leave, I have a bad feeling about this. Please, let’s go!” I began to feel anxious and scared. “Can we please go, like right now!” “Ugh, calm down, it’s just one stupid thing, in a stupid corner. Not scary.” Amy said while laughing. Then suddenly, the creature rose up from its corner and began to slowly step towards us. Amy and A were just laughing. I was getting ready to run. Once, the creature saw them laughing, it ran towards them and lifted Amy off the ground, by her cheeks! “Oh, my gosh please don’t hurt me!” Amy said as she began to shed tears. “I just wanna play… with your bones.” A and I began to gesture towards the door, but then we felt a tall, skinny body behind us. We turned to see a woman with her eyes missing and extremely sharp teeth! “Ah!” I screamed at the top of my lungs and moved away from her. I looked back to Amy and saw her dead, her neck was broken, but then she began to stand up and her legs were wobbling. The witch was moving a creepy doll and Amy was following her every move. I quickly leap and hide in the fireplace. I then watch what happens to A. The witch slams his body into the wall and then makes sure he’s dead. Then a doll appears in her hands and she moves it, A follows its every move. They then realize I disappeared and run outside to search for me. As soon as they closed the door, I bolted toward the book Amy found and try to figure out a way to banish them. I soon remember what they had to do to Amy’s great aunt Beatrice, they burned her.
5:00 pm: I finally have my trap set and I hide in the fireplace again. I hear them walk in. They then stepped on my first trap and forks (that I found in the fireplace) shot into their eyes. They quickly yanked them out and looked around. “Where are you… I know you’re in here… we just want to play!” Then I decided it was time and threw a lighted match at each of them. I quickly aim to run out of the door, but I felt a tug on my shirt. “Come back here… you are going to die with us… you evil soul!” “No I’m not!” I kicked her right in the stomach then took off outside. I lit another match and threw it, I lit about 10 matches, and then I soon heard their last words. “We’ll be back… you evil soul!” I then used all of my might to run to my home, then told my parents what had happened. Until this very day, maybe even forever, will I remember how evil and fowl they were. I still have nightmares about my two friends being killed, repeatedly and I know it’s because of those two treacherous witches.
