Ode to Rain

Like tears of angels falling gently from the sky
You land perfectly into a petite precious puddle
I do not want to harm you as you are so subtle
Your good encounters I cannot deny

Eccentric shape, but so beautifully sculpted
It’s tough to hear when you get insulted
The epitome of nature, with such a rare occurrence
But the way you keep falling shows great endurance

You’re like nature’s dance with a whimsical pattern
Cold as ice on the rings of Saturn
When a drop hits my face and rolls off my cheek
I flinch, but embrace the sky’s unstoppable leak

Most people feel animosity towards your beauty
Or they over-look your amiable presence
But to me you are fulfilling your duty
For us, and for a flower’s florescence

After you leave, we jump and play
Ready for what will come later in the day
A rainbow or perhaps some more rain
Maybe you will come again

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece because I enjoy nature and so many beautiful things come from rain. I wanted people to understand the beauty behind rain and the importance of it.
