A Pen on the Floor
A pen on the floor
watches eagerly,
expectant and excited,
hoping someone will see.
A pen on the floor
gets kicked out of sight,
but watches other pens,
as they are used to write.
A pen on the floor
is obviously seen.
It’s not like it’s odd,
dry or unclean.
A pen on the floor
was once often used,
was missed when missing,
but now is confused.
A pen on the floor
may not have bright ink,
but it deserves a passerby
to consider or rethink.
A pen on the floor
waits forever to be sighted.
A small, lonely pen
always uninvited.
