Scared to Death

I have seen the face of Death
I've looked him in the eye
I told him that nothing he did
could make me afraid to die
He tried
spiders, drowning, sorrow,
heartbreak, poison too
as to why nothing could break me
He didn't have a clue
I laughed at him in earnest
and said "Come take a look,
I have died a thousand deaths
within the pages of a book"
