The Creek
As this journey rolls on,
I can’t help but remember
The wonders I’ve seen in this great land of timber.
Sunrise every morning and sunset at night
Fill me with more joy and delight
Than my banks could ever hold.
As turkeys in the field fan out their feathers
And turtles bask in day long warm weather,
I wind unseen among the trees
Whose roots gladly soak me in.
I glide and float along the ground
And listen to the lovely sounds
Of birds on branches I yearn see.
I live for each new twist and turn
That gives me a good chance to learn
About this forest’s ways and rules.
Someday my journey will come to an end
As will yours one day my friend.
But until that day comes I’ll choose to remember
The wonders I’ve seen in this great land of timber.
